IP ADDRESS GUIDE

IP address guide

Clear explanations of public and private IP addresses, IPv4, IPv6, and connection checks.

What is my IP and how do I check it?

Your public IP appears automatically on the IPTest.ro homepage. It is the address your connection uses on the internet. The tool detects the protocol, country associated with the network, and provider without requiring an account or an app.

If you searched for “show my IP”, “my IP address”, or “IP checker”, the homepage result is the current answer for your connection. It may change when you enable a VPN, switch Wi-Fi networks, or move to mobile data.

Public and private IP

A public IP is visible to websites and assigned by your internet provider. A private IP identifies a device only inside the local network, commonly using ranges such as 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x.

IPv4 and IPv6

IPv4 is the older and most widely used format. IPv6 provides a much larger address space. A connection may use IPv4 only, IPv6 only, or both protocols.
